for the Elderly

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Ensuring that every elderly person in Sierra Leone is loved, cared for, and supported by our society.

OUR MISSION
Caring for Sierra Leone's Aging Hearts

Our mission is to transform the lives of Sierra Leone's elderly population through a relentless commitment to compassion and advocacy. We believe that every elderly individual deserves to age gracefully and with dignity. We are dedicated to achieving this mission

OUR VISION
A Sierra Leone Where Age Is Celebrated, Wisdom Respected, and Every Elderly Heart Radiates with Dignity

Our vision at DOFA is to create a world where age is not a barrier but a badge of honor, where the wisdom and experiences of our elderly population are revered, and where every elderly heart beats with the pride of dignity.

Our dream goes further.

We want to build a permanent home and care centre for the elderly, a peaceful place where they can receive regular meals, healthcare, emotional support, and love every day, not just once a month.

OUR MAIN GOAL

Caring for Sierra Leone's Aging Hearts

Advocate for Elderly Rights

Our primary goal is to be a powerful voice for the elderly in Sierra Leone. We aim to advocate for their rights, ensuring that they are recognized, protected, and respected at every level of society. This includes advocating for policy changes, legal protections, and social support systems that enhance the well-being of elderly individuals.

Offer Livelihood Support and Empowerment

Another central goal of DOFA is to empower elderly individuals to lead self-sufficient lives. We achieve this by providing training, resources, and community-based programs that equip them with valuable skills. Our aim is to enhance their independence, self-esteem, and overall quality of life, allowing them to actively contribute to their communities.

Raise Awareness and Promote Inclusivity

DOFA strives to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the elderly and the importance of elderly welfare. Our goal is to create a more inclusive society where age-related stereotypes are challenged, and elderly individuals are actively involved in community life. We work to foster a culture of respect, appreciation, and celebration of the wisdom and contributions of the elderly.

Provide Legal Aid and Support

We are committed to offering crucial legal aid and support to elderly citizens facing various challenges. Our goal is to ensure that they have access to justice and can resolve issues affecting their lives, such as housing disputes, healthcare access, and financial security. We provide legal guidance and assistance to address these concerns effectively.

At DOFA:

Age Is Celebrated

We envision a society that celebrates the richness that comes with age. Elderly individuals are not only valued but also celebrated for the wisdom and contributions they bring to our communities.

Wisdom Is Respected

We advocate for a Sierra Leone where the knowledge and experience of the elderly are sought after and respected. Their stories and life lessons become a source of inspiration for all generations.

Dignity Prevails

We aspire to create an environment where every elderly person is treated with respect, kindness, and the utmost dignity. No one is left behind, and all elderly hearts radiate with the confidence of being valued members of society.

DOFA - Board Chairman Rev. Father Peter Konteh

As we embark on the new month of October, let us take a moment to gather in gratitude and offer prayers of thanksgiving for the journey we have undertaken. Let us express our appreciation for the blessings bestowed upon us and reflect upon the lessons learned from the ups and downs of the previous month, September.

Heavenly Father,

We come before You with hearts filled with gratitude as we enter this new month of October. We thank You for the countless blessings and opportunities You have bestowed upon us. Thank You for the gift of life, for health, and for the love of family and friends that surround us. We are truly grateful for Your abundant provision and the grace that sustains us each day.

Lord, as we look back on the month of September, we acknowledge that it was a month filled with both joys and challenges. We are grateful for the moments of triumph, for the goals achieved, and for the times when You guided us through difficult situations. We recognize that it is through the trials and struggles that we grow stronger and learn valuable lessons. We thank You for the strength and resilience You have instilled in us.

In the moments of happiness and success, we express our deepest gratitude. May we always remember to humbly acknowledge that every good thing comes from You. Help us to use our blessings wisely and to share them generously with others. May our accomplishments be a testament to Your grace and love.

Lord, we also recognize the moments of disappointment, setbacks, and challenges we faced in September. We thank You for the opportunities to grow, for the lessons learned, and for the strength to persevere. Help us to view these experiences as stepping stones on the path to greater wisdom and understanding. Grant us the courage to face adversity with grace and the faith to trust in Your divine plan.

As we begin this new month, Lord, we pray for Your guidance and wisdom. Help us to set our intentions and goals in alignment with Your will. Grant us the clarity to discern what is truly important and the courage to pursue it. May this month be filled with abundance, joy, and peace as we walk hand in hand with You.

We lift up our hearts in gratitude and place our hopes and aspirations before You, Lord. May Your love and grace illuminate our path, and may Your blessings continue to pour upon us abundantly.

In Your holy name, we pray.

Amen.

With heartfelt thanksgiving,

Rev. Father Peter Konteh
